This book summarizes the academic thoughts of historical acupuncture schools and well-known physicians. It can be used as textbook for acupuncture students. This book consists of three parts: part one shows an overview of the widely recognised most famous ancient books about acupuncture and moxibustion (Huangdi Neijing, Nanjing, Zhenjiu Jia Yijing), part two consists of sources of ancient acupuncture schools which are the Acupoint School, School of Needling Methods, School of Bloodletting by Pricking Collateral Vessels, School of Preference for Muxibustion, School of Preference for Acupuncture, School of Making Bold to all Heading on Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Medical. Part three shows theories and archievements of 49 famous doctors, from Zhang Zhongjing to Cheng Dan'an.
The texts are specifically designed for the clinical enrichment of practitioners, there are some controversial theories like Zhang Zhongjings Fire Deteoration. Some of the theories maybe absurd by today's standards, but are included in this valuable book because these may mark important theoretical turning points.
This textbook has the following purposes: to learn the rich history and theoretical models of acupuncture and moxibustion, to address not only orthodox mainstream ideas but also unorthodox theories, to show the full picture.
The text of this book is in English, but names like famous books, acupoints etc. will also be named in simplified Chinese and/or Hanyu Pinyin to be more precise. We think that this book is an extremely valuable ressource for all practitioners of acupuncture and moxibustion, experts and students alike.
