This book tells how Pablo, an American middle-school student, went to take part in a table tennis match in China after overcoming many difficulties. It also tells how he made friends with salesman Bubbha after overcoming prejudices. There are altogether 6 chapters in this book, "We are no longer in Kansas, Welcome to Russia, Unique luck of Russia, Zigzag long road, Pablo runs to catch a bus, Match to begin soon". At the end of each chapter, there are comprehensive questions written in English. The intension is for the teacher or the students to check their understanding of the story. 《终生难忘的旅程》讲述了美国中学生Pablo到中国参加乒乓球比赛，途中遇到各种困难，最后终于来到中国的艰难旅程。同时，也讲述了他与推销员Bubbha结识，并在克服困难过程中消除偏见，最后成为好朋友的故事。《终生难忘的旅程》共有6章，分别为“我们已经不在Kansas、欢迎来到俄罗斯、俄罗斯式的运气、弯弯曲曲的长路、Pablo跑步去赶车、比赛马上就要开始了”。每章故事后面有几个问题（英文），用以检测学生对故事的理解。《终生难忘的旅程》最后附有词语表。

《终生难忘的旅程》是根据Blaine Ray用西班牙语编写的同名故事翻译改写而成的，是Blaine Ray发明的应用于各种外语教学的“行为情境教学法”（TPRS:Teaching Proficiency through Reading and story-telling）的配套读物。该教学法在美国被广泛采用，其特点是通过生动有趣的故事和相关情境，让学生在轻松的学习中掌握词汇并学会语言交际。
