You can use Spoken Chinese Course as a stand-alone spoken Chinese teaching material or as part of the overall Chinese Course (汉语教程, Hanyu Jiaocheng) textbook series. This is Spoken Chinese Course volume 2.

Spoken Chinese Course Series Introduction
Volumes 1 and 2 are annotated in Hanyu Pinyin and English. Hanyu Pinyin appears parallel to the lesson texts and in the vocabulary notes, but not in the exercises. The English annotations are quite comprehensive, there is a translation of the lesson texts, the vocabulary notes and the instructions for the exercises.

Volumes 3 and 4 have limited notes in Hanyu Pinyin and English. Hanyu Pinyin appears in the vocabulary notes. The English notes are limited to the vocabulary and the instructions for the exercises.

The Spoken Chinese Course series consists of 4 volumes for the first year of study. All four volumes contain a total of 2,000 common Chinese words.

汉语口语教程（第二册）
《汉语口语教程》是为零起点的汉语学习者编写的，适用于学历教育和非学历教育以及各类国际中文教育的教学单位的初级口语教材。既可以作为“对外汉语本科系列教材 一年级教材”《汉语教程》（第3版）的配套口语教材使用，也可以作为初级口语训练教材单独使用。

本教程分四册共64课，每课大致分为课文、生词、注释、练习等，培养操练学生的口头表达能力，为学生升入高年级或进入其他专业的学习（如学医、学工等）打下一个良好的基础。

作者简介
杨寄洲，北京语言大学教授。长期从事对外汉语教学和教材的编写、科研工作，主要著作有《对外汉语教学初级阶段教学大纲》，教材有《汉语教程》（第1版）（修订本）系列、《登攀》系列、《职通汉语》系列，工具书《1700对近义词语用法对比》《汉语800虚词用法词典》《商务馆学成语词典》《汉语常用口语句典》等。主要论文有《对外汉语教学初级阶段语法项目的排序问题》《编写初级汉语教材的几个问题》等。曾获 2001年北京市教育教学成果二等奖（高等教育）。
