The Series on Standards for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages is a series of textbooks designed for CFL teachers who are taking training courses and those who are going to take the TCFL eligibility exam. This volume has been compiled by Prof. Li Qingben and is based on the Standards for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. This series provides readers with systematic knowledge about the “standards” and help them acquire the relevant knowledge and professional skills. It can be used not only as a textbook by teachers in training and tutoring courses or in self-teaching, but also as a reference book by candidates for the Chinese teaching eligibility exam. The whole series includes 10 books altogether, and this book is one of them.
China and Other Countries: Cultural Comparison and Cross-Cultural Communication is based on the standard 4 (Comparison of Chinese and Foreign Cultures and Intercultural Communication) in the International Chinese Teacher Standards published by Hanban. It aims to help international Chinese teachers understand the main similarities and differences between Chinese and foreign cultures and understand intercultural communication. The main concepts, as well as the influence of culture and interculturalism on language teaching and learning, apply the above theories and knowledge to teaching practice.
The book is divided into eight chapters, which introduces the characteristics and history of Chinese and foreign civilizations, the world's major philosophical factions and representatives, foreign Sinology studies, Chinese and foreign social values and major foreign cultural customs, the relationship between intercultural communication and second language teaching. The relationship between pragmatics and language teaching. The selection of the content of this book, the angle of discussion and the design of the "Thinking and Practice" part of the book are closely related to the teaching practice of international Chinese teachers.

About the Author
Li Qingben is an academic leader of BLCU’s doctoral program of Comparative Literature and World Literature, a professor in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences of BLCU, and a doctoral tutor, who is engaged in the cross-cultural researches on literary aesthetics and comparative poetics as well as the studies of the Chinese cultural, intellectual and academic history. Prof. Li has published more than 50 academic papers in important academic journals in China and overseas. His current academic interests include culture of the Birmingham School, cultural industry and cultural transmission, and ecological civilization and ecological aesthetics.

中外文化比较与跨文化交际 (国际汉语汉语教师标准丛书)
本书根据国家汉办发布的《国际汉语教师标准》中的“标准四:中外文化比较与跨文化交际”编写而成,旨在帮助国际汉语教师了解中外文化的主要异同,理解跨文化交际的主要概念,以及文化、跨文化对语言教与学的影响,并将上述理论和知识应用于教学实践中。
全书共分八章,分别介绍了中外文明的特点和历史,世界主要哲学派别及代表人物,国外汉学研究,中外社会价值观及国外主要文化风俗,跨文化交际学与第二语言教学之间的关系,语用学与语言教学的关系等相关内容。本书内容的选取、论述的角度以及课后“思考与练习”部分的设计,都与国际汉语教师的教学实践紧密相连,具有较强的可操作性和针对性。
作者简介
李庆本,北京语言大学比较文学与世界文学专业学科博士点学术带头人,北京语言大学人文学院教授,博士生导师。主要从事文艺美学、比较诗学的跨文化研究,并致力于中国文化思想史、学术史的研究。曾在国内外重要学术刊物发表50余篇学术论文。目前主要学术兴趣为伯明翰学派文化研究、文化产业与文化传播、生态文明与生态美学。
